CSIR-NIScPR’s SVASTIK Lecture Series: Exploring Yoga’s Power to Unite Humanity

Under the umbrella of SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge), a PMO-monitored initiative coordinated by CSIR-NIScPR, a special lecture was organized centering on the theme “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” The event marked a momentous occasion, as scholars, researchers, Yoga enthusiasts, and enthusiastic participants gathered to explore the significance of Yoga in promoting a sense of global unity.

Hasan Jawaid Khan, Chief Scientist of CSIR-NIScPR, commenced the session with a warm Welcome Address, providing insightful introductory remarks on SVASTIK, setting the stage for an enriching and enlightening series of lectures that followed.

The highlight of the event was the captivating Keynote Address delivered by Padma Shri Dr. H R Nagendra, the esteemed Chancellor of S-VYASA University in Bengaluru. Dr. Nagendra’s vast knowledge and expertise in the realm of Yoga left the audience spellbound as he eloquently expounded on the profound impact of Yoga in uniting humanity and realizing the timeless concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – the world is one family. His address resonated deeply with the attendees, leaving them inspired and motivated to incorporate Yoga into their lives for personal and collective well-being.

The session also witnessed a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Charu Lata, Principal Scientist at CSIR-NIScPR, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the event a resounding success.

The event showcased CSIR-NIScPR’s commitment to promoting and sharing evidence-based traditional practices and knowledge among the public. By instilling a sense of pride and confidence in the rich heritage of India’s traditional wisdom, the initiative seeks to preserve and disseminate this valuable knowledge for the benefit of society.

Guided by the esteemed Director of CSIR-NIScPR, Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, and a Steering Committee comprising eminent experts, the SVASTIK initiative aims to disseminate simplified, creative content on scientifically validated Indian traditional knowledge through digital platforms in English and various Indian languages. To date, 37 such stories have been disseminated across nine traditional knowledge domains in English and 17 Indian languages. SVASTIK can be accessed through @NIScPR_SVASTIK on popular social media platforms.

The NIScPR-SVASTIK Lecture Series is a testament to the institute’s dedication to bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and modern scientific advancements, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage and wisdom. By embracing Yoga and traditional knowledge, the initiative seeks to promote unity, harmony, and well-being on both individual and global levels.
