Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, celebrated the recognition of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s contributions to global peace. The 12th General Assembly of the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace, held in New Delhi, unanimously declared July 6th, the Dalai Lama’s birthday, as the ‘Universal Day of Compassion.’

Chief Minister Khandu praised the Dalai Lama, stating, “The teachings of His Holiness, his compassion & empathy for every creature on the earth, have transformed countless lives. The Dalai Lama’s Legacy
Born on July 6, 1935, the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the highest spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. Known as a living Bodhisattva, he has dedicated his life to advocating for the welfare of Tibetans and promoting nonviolence. Since his exile in 1959, he has resided in India, leading the Tibetan government in exile and continuing his spiritual and humanitarian work.

The Dalai Lama’s global influence extends beyond his spiritual teachings. He has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and is recognized for his efforts in interfaith dialogue, environmental advocacy, and promoting human rights.
