Arvind Kejriwal News: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a firm stance against the petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, challenging his arrest in connection with a money laundering case. The matter is slated for hearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Wednesday.
In response to the petition, the ED asserted that the political party, deemed as the “major beneficiary” of the proceeds of the crime, allegedly orchestrated the offence through the AAP leader. The agency’s response highlighted the involvement of the AAP in committing the offence of money laundering through the convener, invoking section 70 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002.
Meanwhile, in protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leaders have announced plans to stage a fasting dharna at Jantar Mantar on April 7. Gopal Rai, a prominent AAP leader, declared that ministers, MPs, MLAs, councillors, and office-bearers will participate in the demonstration, inviting student organizations, farmer bodies, and traders to join the event.
The forthcoming hearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma holds significance as it will determine the course of action regarding the AAP convener’s arrest petition. The ED’s opposition to the petition underscores the gravity of the allegations and the complexities surrounding the ongoing investigation into the money laundering case.
