Several places in Delhi and Noida experienced waterlogging after moderate rainfall lashed parts of the national capital and its adjoining areas early on Wednesday, July 24. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued advisories for the public as waterlogging was reported from several locations, including Chatta Rail Chowk, Nigam Bodh Ghat, Anand Parvat, and Zakhira underpass.

Due to waterlogging at Chatta Rail Chowk, traffic has been affected on Syama Prasad Mukherjee Marg, with diversions at Chatta Rail Red Light and Lothian Road. Alternate routes have been suggested for commuters. Waterlogging at Nigam Bodh Ghat and Anand Parvat has also led to traffic diversions.

Rain also impacted RK Puram and nearby areas in south Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a “yellow” alert for Delhi for the next two days. Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy rain in areas including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat, and surrounding regions. This weather pattern is attributed to the monsoon trough triggering scattered thunderstorms throughout the area.
Impact on Temperature and Air Quality
On Monday, Delhi experienced a significant downpour, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, which is slightly above the usual norm. The relative humidity level stood at 68 percent by 5:30 pm. For Wednesday, the weather office predicts moderate rainfall, with expected temperatures fluctuating between 34 and 26 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was noted in the “satisfactory” category, registering a reading of 93 at 6 pm, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board.
