National Zoological Park, also known as Delhi Zoo, commemorates the International Day of Forests on March 21, 2024, with a series of engaging activities centered around the theme “Forests and innovation: new solutions for a better world”.
The day began with a doodle art activity at the Education Centre of the zoo, inviting visitors to participate and express their creativity while learning about the significance of forests. Following this, a film showcasing Mission LiFE was screened, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation.
One of the highlights of the event was a plantation drive conducted by the staff members of the National Zoological Park. The drive took place in the vicinity of a recently rejuvenated water body, further enhancing the biodiversity of the area and contributing to the conservation of natural habitats.
The celebration of International Day of Forests underscores the critical role of forests in sustainable management and resource utilization to combat climate change. It serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard these invaluable natural resources for the well-being of present and future generations.
Through innovative techniques and awareness initiatives like the ones organized at Delhi Zoo, efforts are being made to promote forest conservation and inspire individuals to actively participate in preserving our planet’s ecosystems.
