Dense Fog Conditions:
Punjab and Haryana (January 3rd-5th): Brace yourselves for dense fog during the night and morning hours. The advisory warns of persistent conditions in some parts, with isolated pockets likely to experience these conditions for an additional two days.
Rajasthan (January 3rd-4th): Similar conditions are expected in the early morning and morning hours in certain areas, while north Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness isolated pockets of dense to very dense fog on January 3rd, 2024.
Other Regions (January 3rd-8th): From Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura – isolated or some pockets are anticipated to experience dense fog during various periods within the mentioned timeframe.
Cold Day Warning:
Punjab and Haryana (January 3rd-7th): Prepare for cold day to severe cold day conditions continuing in many parts on January 3rd, and in some areas on the 4th. Isolated pockets may experience cold day conditions from the 5th to the 7th of January 2024.
Rajasthan (January 3rd-4th): Similar cold day to severe cold day conditions are expected on January 3rd, with isolated pockets likely to continue on the 4th.
Uttar Pradesh (January 3rd): Isolated pockets of cold day conditions are predicted for January 3rd, 2024.
Rainfall Forecast:
Southern Regions (January 3rd-5th): Under the influence of an easterly wave and a Low Pressure Area over the southeast Arabian Sea, expect light to moderate rainfall in south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep. Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated over Lakshadweep from January 3rd to 5th, with additional heavy rainfall predicted for south Tamil Nadu and Kerala on January 4th and 5th.
Central and Eastern Regions (January 3rd-8th): Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh can expect light isolated rainfall from January 3rd to 8th, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha may experience similar conditions from January 3rd to 5th, 2024.
Fishermen Warning:
Arabian Sea (January 3rd): In association with the Low-Pressure Area over the Arabian Sea, fishermen are cautioned about squally weather with wind speeds of 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph. This warning extends to the Comorin area, Southwest Bay of Bengal off south Sri Lanka coast, Southeast & adjoining East central Arabian Sea, and adjoining Lakshadweep area on January 3rd, 2024.
