During a presentation given by DFS_India, the progress made so far in advancing the government’s #FinancialInclusion drive was highlighted, along with the plans for the way forward. The Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman suggested the identification of credit-deficient districts in each state and the organization of special credit outreach camps in those districts.
Furthermore, during the meeting, the Finance Minister proposed the holding of a special District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting between July 15th and August 15th. She recommended inviting Members of Parliament from such districts to participate and brainstorm ideas for promoting #FinancialInclusion by opening Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (#PMJDY) accounts for individuals who are still outside the reach of banking services.
FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman requested all MPs to actively engage in #FinancialInclusion efforts and provide guidance to banks and financial institutions for the effective implementation of these initiatives in their respective constituencies. Members of Parliament appreciated the government’s endeavors in ensuring #BankingtheUnbanked, #SecuringtheUnsecured, and #FundingtheUnfunded. They also shared various suggestions related to the government’s #FinancialInclusion initiatives.
