Prime Minister’s Vision of a “Garbage-Free India” Takes Center Stage
This phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission emphasizes the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Garbage-Free India” with a focus on scientific waste management, converting waste to wealth, and promoting a circular economy. To align with this vision, the DOLR organized the event with the active participation of department officers and officials, led by Secretary, DoLR, Shri Ajay Tirkey.
Systematic and Methodical Cleanliness Drive Enthusiastically Embraced
The event witnessed robust participation in cleanliness activities, not only from DOLR officers and officials but also from an enthusiastic gathering of local residents. The cleanliness drive was meticulously organized, with four teams formed to cover distinct segments of the designated area, ensuring a systematic and methodological approach.
Impactful Tribute to Swachhata hi Seva Campaign
The event proved to be a resounding success, leaving a significant impact on both the officers and officials of the Department and the general public. It effectively conveyed the objectives of the Swachhata hi Seva campaign through productive Shramdaan efforts dedicated to cleanliness.
Swachhata Hi Sewa: A Whole-of-Government Approach
The Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, an initiative of the Government of India, adopts a comprehensive approach to achieve a visibly higher level of cleanliness through volunteerism (Shramdaan) and community participation (Jan Bhagidari). With the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 in 2021, greater emphasis is placed on active citizen participation. Prime Minister’s call for a one-hour Shramdaan for Swachhata on 1st October 2023, collectively undertaken by all citizens, serves as a heartfelt “Swachhanjali” (tribute) to Mahatma Gandhi on his Jayanti.
