On February 15, 2023, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, accepted credentials from the Ambassadors of Lithuania, Lao PDR, Greece, and Guatemala, and the High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The ceremony marked the formal beginning of their diplomatic assignments in India.
The credentials were presented by H.E. Mrs. Diana Mickeviciene, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania; H.E. Mr. Bounmy Vanmany, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; H.E. Mr. Dimitrios Ioannou, Ambassador of Greece; H.E. Mr. Omar Lisandro Castaneda Solares, Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala; and H.E. Mr. Menzie Sipho Dlamini, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Droupadi Murmu congratulated the ambassadors and the high commissioner on their new assignments and expressed her hope for the strengthening of the ties between India and their respective countries. The President also conveyed India’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, science and technology, and culture.
The envoys conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from their respective heads of state and expressed their commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between their countries and India. They also expressed their desire to work closely with the Indian government and the people to promote cooperation and friendship.
The ceremony ended with the diplomats signing the visitors’ book and being escorted out of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
India’s relations with Lithuania, Lao PDR, Greece, Guatemala, and Eswatini have been friendly and cooperative, and the acceptance of their credentials is a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to strengthening these relationships. The ceremony also reflects India’s continued efforts to deepen its engagement with the international community and further enhance its role as a key player in global affairs.
