The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, graced the Foundation Day Celebration of the Jnanaprabha Mission in Bhubaneswar on February 10, 2023. During her address, the President highlighted the importance of spirituality in today’s world, where materialistic aspirations are increasing but peace of mind is becoming elusive. She also emphasized the significance of caring for the elderly and respecting them, as taught by our sages.
The President praised the efforts of the Jnanaprabha Mission in popularizing Kriya Yoga and said that yoga is an ancient science and spiritual practice that can lead to a healthy body and peaceful mind.
She urged all to adopt a yogic lifestyle and said that the objective of yoga is to create a healthy human society. The President noted that the present world is witnessing the adverse effects of climate change and stressed the importance of adopting a nature-friendly lifestyle to secure a better future for the next generation.
The President also spoke about the significance of the name of the mission, Jnanaprabha, which is named after the mother of Paramahansa Yogananda Ji, and said that it is a matter of pride.
She emphasized the importance of taking care of one’s parents and said that merely addressing them as God and worshiping their pictures is not spirituality. The President said that serving senior citizens, elders and the sick should be a vow of life and that this is human religion.
The President’s speech at the Foundation Day Celebration of Jnanaprabha Mission was a call to all to adopt a spiritual and harmonious lifestyle, to care for the elderly, and to adopt a nature-friendly way of life. She highlighted the importance of yoga and the role it can play in creating a healthy human society and achieving peace of mind.
