Droupadi Murmu Attended Civic Reception At Dehradun For Various Projects

President Droupadi Murmu attended a civic reception hosted in her honor by Govt of Uttarakhand at Dehradun. She also virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects related to healthcare, power generation, technical education & transport.

“The contribution of the land and the people of Uttarakhand to Mother India are immense,” the President said while addressing the gathering. Many rivers that have irrigated and developed a large part of India originate from Uttarakhand. Indians have the Himalayas and Uttarakhand in their hearts and souls. In search of knowledge, our sages have been taking shelter in the caves and caverns of the Himalayas. Both spiritual peace and physical healing can be found in this state.

She said “Noting that there are many famous centers of naturopathy in Uttarakhand where a large number of people from India and abroad come to avail health benefits, the President said this is great. She stated that the state has immense possibilities for ‘nature tourism’, ‘adventure tourism’ as well as ‘medical tourism.’ Uttarakhand is setting up new institutions in the fields of modern medicine and Ayurveda, which made her happy”.

The President said that on behalf of the people of India, she would express her gratitude to the brave sons of Uttarakhand, remembering the contributions of brave soldiers of Uttarakhand in India’s defense.

President also said “Since time immemorial, the whole Himalayan land including Uttarakhand, has been the center of Shakti worship,” said the President. The same dignity and strength that is found in the life stories of brave women like Rani Karnavati, and forest conservators like Gaura Devi, is also found in the story of Bachendri Pal, the first woman to hoist the tricolor on Mount Everest. The young daughters of Uttarakhand are also moving forward on the path of progress, which made her happy.

The President mentioned Lakshya Sen, who has recently conferred the Arjuna Award, and said that the 21-year-old sets an ideal for the youth of the entire country to aim towards excellence in their respective fields.

She said” We must remember the known and unknown freedom fighters. She recalled the contributions of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, Sri Dev Suman or Kesari Chand, Indramani Badoni, and Shri Govind Ballabh Pant. She said that efforts should be made to acquaint the young generation of the entire country with the contribution of these personalities from Uttarakhand”.
