ED and Cyber Crime Police Raid Multiple Premises

Cyber Crime Police Raid: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Ahmedabad Zonal Office, in collaboration with Cyber Crime Police Station Ahmedabad, has executed search operations across 20 locations in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Coimbatore. The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into Magicwin, an alleged illegal broadcaster under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

Cyber Crime Police Raid: Allegations Against Magicwin

The investigation was prompted by an FIR alleging that Magicwin’s website, https://magicwin.games/, illegally hosted ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 matches, including Canada vs. Ireland and India vs. Pakistan. These broadcasts were made without authorization, infringing on Star India Pvt. Ltd’s exclusive rights to the content.

Findings from the Search Operations

The ED’s search uncovered incriminating records, digital devices, and Rs. 30 lakh in cash. Approximately Rs. 2 crore was frozen, and crypto wallets with a balance of Rs. 12 crore were identified. Instructions were issued to crypto exchanges to prevent the liquidation of these assets.

Impact and Ongoing Investigation

The operation highlights the effectiveness of multi-agency coordination in addressing complex online crimes. The investigation continues as authorities work to address the financial and operational impacts of the unauthorized broadcasts and illegal betting activities linked to Magicwin.
