ED Files Prosecution Complaint in Judge Bribery Case

Judge Bribery Case: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a significant step forward in the Judge Bribery case by filing a Prosecution Complaint (PC) against 10 accused individuals, including Sudhir Parmar, a former Judge of the Special Court in Panchkula, Haryana. The PC, filed on 11.08.2023, and a Supplementary PC on 06.10.2023, were submitted before the Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA) in Panchkula under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

The Hon’ble Court acknowledged the PC and Supplementary PC on 20.02.2024, marking a significant development in the legal proceedings. The ED launched its investigation based on an FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Panchkula, Haryana, which cited various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused.

The investigation uncovered alleged illegal gratification received by Sudhir Parmar, the former Judge, amounting to approximately Rs. 7 Crore from the owners & promoters of IREO Group and M3M Group. The gratification was purportedly given in exchange for favors extended to these entities. The funds were allegedly received in the form of cash and loans deposited into the bank accounts of the judge’s relatives, without proper documentation or justification.

During the course of the investigation, the ED arrested five accused individuals connected to the case. Additionally, a Provisional Attachment Order was issued earlier, attaching properties, including residential plots and agricultural land owned by the accused, amounting to Rs. 7.59 Crore. This order was subsequently confirmed by the Adjudicating Authority on 18.01.2024, further strengthening the legal action against the accused parties.

The filing of the Prosecution Complaint signifies a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice in the Judge Bribery case, demonstrating the ED’s commitment to uncovering and prosecuting instances of financial malpractice and corruption within the judiciary.
