The government of Jammu and Kashmir has been working towards filling the vacant posts in the government sector. A large-scale recruitment drive was carried out in a transparent manner, and as of December 2022, 25,450 out of 33,426 vacancies have been filled. The recruitment process is ongoing, and the government is continuously identifying and filling the vacancies.

According to the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) during July 2020-June 2021, the unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir was 18.3% among the age group of 15-29 years. However, the survey does not provide specific estimates for the educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir for the period April-June 2021.
