Election Results 2024: In a decisive victory, the BJP returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh, while the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) secured a second term in Sikkim, following the 2024 assembly elections held on April 19.
BJP Wins in Arunachal Pradesh
According to the Election Commission, the BJP clinched power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term, winning 46 out of the 60 assembly seats. The results were declared on Sunday for 50 seats, as the ruling party had already secured ten seats unopposed. Among the ten unopposed winners was Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
In the remaining results, the National People’s Party (NPP) won five seats, the People’s Party of Arunachal secured two seats, and the NCP claimed three seats. The Congress managed to win just one seat, while Independent candidates triumphed in three constituencies.
SKM’s Resounding Victory in Sikkim
In Sikkim, the ruling SKM, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, won a landslide victory by securing 31 out of the 32 assembly seats. The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) managed to win only one seat.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang credited the SKM workers’ hard work and the people’s trust in his government for the party’s landmark victory. He expressed his gratitude to the electorate and promised to continue working towards the development and prosperity of Sikkim.
The election results in both states reflect the electorate’s confidence in the incumbent governments, setting the stage for continued political stability and development in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
