Election: The Central Government, in adherence to the provisions outlined in the Indian Veterinary Council Act, has initiated the process of electing 11 members to the Veterinary Council of India. This announcement follows the guidelines stipulated in the Indian Veterinary Council Rules, 1985, as per notification S.O. 4701(E) dated 25th October 2023.
The Returning Officer, appointed by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, has released the schedule for various stages of the election process:
- Date for making nominations: From 20.04.2024 (Saturday) to 26.04.2024 (Friday), between 10.00 AM and 5.00 PM.
- Date and time for scrutiny of nominations: 01.05.2024 (Wednesday), from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
- Last date for withdrawal of candidature: Up to 03.05.2024 (Friday) until 5.00 PM.
- Date of poll: 08.06.2024 (Saturday) from 7.00 AM to 7.00 PM.
- Date, time, and place for counting of votes and declaration of results: 09.06.2024 (Sunday) from 10.30 AM onwards in New Delhi.
Eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their nominations in the prescribed format to Justice (Ms.) Asha Menon (Retd.), Returning Officer for the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, at the designated address in New Delhi. Alternatively, nominations can be submitted online, with scanned copies bearing clear signatures, to the specified email ID before the deadline.
All interested parties are urged to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Gazette Notification published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India and the website of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The election process aims to ensure the representation of qualified individuals committed to the advancement of veterinary practices in India.
