Empowering Dreams: PM Modi Engages with Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Beneficiaries

In a remarkable display of commitment to grassroots empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra through a virtual interaction. The event brought together thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds, showcasing the tangible outcomes of initiatives aimed at fostering economic self-reliance.

Among the inspiring stories shared during the interaction was that of Rubina Khan from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. A member of a Self Help Group consisting of 1.3 lakh women, Rubina embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by establishing a small business selling clothes. Using a loan from her SHG, she transitioned from a life of labor to owning a second-hand Maruti Van for her business. Amusingly, the Prime Minister remarked, “I don’t even have a bicycle.”

Rubina’s entrepreneurial spirit further evolved as she established a shop in Dewas and secured state-level contracts during the pandemic. Notably, her SHG played a vital role in contributing to pandemic relief efforts by manufacturing masks, PPE kits, and sanitizers. Rubina’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of initiatives like Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in uplifting individuals and communities.

During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi expressed his vision of making approximately 2 crore women from SHGs ‘Lakhpati’ (millionaires). Rubina Khan, pledging her support to this ambitious goal, stated, “I wish every Didi to be a Lakhpati,” as other women present raised their hands in solidarity.

Applauding the confidence of women like Rubina Khan, the Prime Minister emphasized, “The confidence of our mothers and sisters will make our nation self-reliant.” He commended the SHG model as a catalyst for women’s self-reliance, and Rubina’s journey inspired him to strive towards making at least 2 crore women ‘lakhpati.’

Encouraging Rubina to focus on education, Prime Minister Modi learned that her entire village had experienced prosperity. This interaction not only highlighted individual success stories but also underscored the transformative potential of grassroots initiatives in building a self-reliant and empowered nation.
