Passengers traveling by bus in Uttar Pradesh are in for a more convenient and hassle-free experience as the state government embarks on an initiative to modernize bus stations. Soon, passengers will no longer need to wander around bus stands to check bus timings, thanks to the installation of LED display panels. Additionally, a Passenger Announcement System has been approved, further enhancing the travel experience.
LED Display Panel Approval
Under the Nirbhaya scheme, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation officials have been directed to take the necessary steps to install LED display panels at bus stops across the state. The ambitious project aims to install LED display panels and a Passenger Announcement System at 100 bus stations in Uttar Pradesh.
List of 85 Bus Stations Ready
As part of the project, a list of 85 bus stations has already been prepared, with plans to finalize the list for the remaining bus stations soon. Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Dayashankar Singh, announced that the corporation has entered into an agreement with NEC Corporation for the implementation of this project. The project is expected to be completed within four months, with the organization receiving full support to ensure successful and timely execution.
Implementation Begins in Lucknow-Ghaziabad
In a promising start, the installation of Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) equipment and panic buttons in buses has already commenced in the Lucknow and Ghaziabad regions. Similar work will soon begin in other areas as part of the comprehensive initiative. To select suitable locations for LED display panels at each identified bus station, a three-member committee has been established at the regional level. The committee comprises the regional manager of the respective area as the president, the assistant regional manager of the related bus station depot as the convening member and a representative from NEC Corporation as the member.
Prioritizing Visibility and Convenience
When choosing the installation sites for the display panels, the committee will prioritize locations that offer good visibility to passengers, easy access to power supply, and reliable internet connectivity. This thoughtful selection process aims to ensure that passengers do not encounter any inconvenience when accessing real-time bus information.
The introduction of LED display panels and the Passenger Announcement System represents a significant step towards modernizing bus travel in Uttar Pradesh.
