Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park:-
Approximately 10 kilometers from Darjeeling town, the Rock Garden (also known as Barbotey Rock Garden) is set with picturesque and colorful terraced gardens dotted with highly diversified flowering plants… blazing the rocks and cliffs at different levels. Darjeeling’s best tourist spot is made even better by the Chunnu Summer Falls. 3 kilometers ahead is Ganga Maya Park, which is another nature park with a narrow gushing stream flowing through it.
A lake and gardens dotted with varied species of colorful flowers are also hosted in the park. You can enjoy the Gorkha folk dance at Ganga Maya Park as a tourist. Tenzing and Gombu Rock:-
Tenzing Rock is one of the most beautiful gigantic natural rocks in Darjeeling, named after Tenzing Norgay (Who was the first person to climb Mt Everest). The beautiful Gombu Rock is just opposite this and is named after Nawang Gombu, the nephew of Tenzing who became the director of field training at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute after Tenzing retired in 1976. Rock climbing training can be done using both of these rocks. People from all over the world come here to train as mountaineers and rock climbers. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute provides rock-climbing training. For adventure lovers and thrill seekers, it is one of the best tourist places to visit in Darjeeling.
DHR Sukna Museum:-
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Museum (DHR Museum) at Sukna, which was set up in 2005, is the third DHR museum. The first monastery is in Ghoom and the second is in Kurseong. Darjeeling is one of the top tourist sites to visit. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has a nice collection of original photographs. You will gain great insight into the history of Darjeeling through its rare collections. You will witness sketches of Tangas, rare pictures of toy trains, original pictures of Kurseong station from the 1880s, Tindharia Railway Station before 1910, the entire history of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and a very rare picture of a 100-year-old woman known as “the Witch of Ghoom” who used to visit Tindharia Railway Station in the 1890s, among other things. Senchal Lake and Wildlife Sanctuary:-
The Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, which was set up in 1915, is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India. It is a haven for wildlife lovers who are visiting Darjeeling for just a couple of days or on the weekends. Darjeeling town is approximately 11 kilometers away. One of the picturesque sites that attract lots of tourists is the Senchal Lake inside the sanctuary.
Nature lovers and photographers will find it to be a perfect haunt. Darjeeling’s drinking water comes from Senchal Lake. The perfect surroundings of Senchal Lake are good for a weekend picnic if you are looking for a place to spend some fun-filled moments with your family and friends.
Many different animals live in the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, such as the barking deer, wild pig, Himalayan black bear, leopard, jungle cat, common rhesus monkey, Assam macaque, Himalayan flying squirrel, and others. There are also several rich bird species and plant species. Its approximate area is 40 square kilometers. The Sanctuary is home to beautiful varieties of flora.
Around 350 types of flowering plants including Rhododendron and Orchids, Oak, Pine, and Birch trees, plantations of Dhupi, Kapasi, Kawla, Hemlock, and mating bamboo, etc. can be seen in the park. The wilderness is a great place to take amazing photos.
Shrubbery Nightingale Park:-
Shrubbery Nightingale Park in Darjeeling is an amazing place to visit with your family to relax your soul from the chaos of work life. The mesmerizing Kanchenjunga Peaks and Eastern Himalayan Ranges provide a beautiful backdrop that will give you a visual treat. Many Nepali cultural programs are held here every evening in peak tourist season, making this park a fun place.
This place was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1934, but it was renovated after a few years. Many pebbled walkways crisscross the park, and it also maintains an idol of Lord Shiva.
