Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently paid a visit to the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Srimantapur, where she inspected the passenger movement register. As part of the visit, Assistant Commissioner of Agartala Division, Customs (Preventive), NER Shillong, provided an overview of the passenger immigration and customs examination hall at ICP Srimantapur. The presentation highlighted the processes and procedures in place to ensure smooth and efficient handling of passengers, their luggage, and customs clearance.
Discussion on Integrated Operations at ICP Srimantapur
The Union Finance Minister was briefed on the integrated working of various agencies at ICP Srimantapur, including Indian Customs, Land Ports Authority of India, and BSF. The discussions centered around streamlining procedures, leveraging technology, and enhancing coordination among different entities to facilitate the seamless movement of goods and passengers at the border.
Impressive Performance of ICPs as per National Time Release Study, 2023
The visit to ICP Srimantapur also provided an opportunity to assess its performance in meeting the Import Release Time target set under the National Trade Facilitation Action Plan (NTFAP) 2020-23. The National Time Release Study, 2023, revealed that the ICPs continue to achieve the stipulated time frames for import release, indicating efficient and effective operations.
