Commemorating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Indian Navy has elevated its Inter School Quiz competitions to a National Level School Quiz Competition, named “The Indian Navy Quiz (THINQ).” This year, coinciding with India’s Presidency of the prestigious G20, THINQ has evolved into an international event, now called “G20 THINQ,” conducted under the aegis of the G20 Secretariat in partnership with NWWA (Navy Welfare and Wellness Association). The competition encompasses two levels: National and International.
In the National Round of G20 THINQ, students in Classes IX to XII from over 11,700 schools are participating. The competition includes two online elimination rounds on September 12, 2023, and October 3, 2023. Subsequently, an online quarter-final will be held on October 10, 2023, leading to the selection of 16 teams for the national semi-finals, with four schools from each zone. The semi-finalists will gather in Mumbai for the national semi-finals at the NCPA auditorium on November 17, 2023. The top eight teams will then compete in the National final round, scheduled to be held at the Gateway of India on November 18, 2023. Following the national round, two top quizzers from the finalists will represent Team India in the international round.
The International Round of G20 THINQ will bring together young minds from G20+9 nations, fostering friendships among G20 partners. Each team in this round will consist of two students and the international finals are planned for November 22, 2023, in New Delhi. Participants, including the 16 national semi-finalists and international teams, will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in India’s diverse heritage and culture during their visit, visiting various popular sites and locations across the country. To facilitate school registration and provide event-related information, a dedicated website (www.theindiannavyquiz.in) has been established for G20 THINQ.
As India hands over the G20 presidency to Brazil on December 1, 2023, G20 THINQ serves as a fitting conclusion to India’s Presidency, marking a significant chapter in G20’s global achievements.
