In a grand spectacle of unity and tradition, the iconic Shoba Yatra set out on a journey from the historic Gorakhnath temple to the Ramlila Maidan in Gorakhpur. This vibrant event, which took place on Tuesday, was marked by a symphony of slogans, Vedic mantras, and the resonating sounds of trumpets and drums.
Yogi Adityanath Paves the Way
Led by the head priest of Gorakhpeeth and the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, the procession symbolized Vijay Dashami, a representation of the victory of justice and truth over the forces of evil. The day began with blessings from Guru Gorakhnath and worship of deities at the Gorakhnath temple. The Chief Minister fervently prayed for the welfare and happiness of the people.
A Grand Procession
Dressed in ceremonial attire and seated on a chariot, Yogi Adityanath spearheaded the traditional Vijay Dashami procession. It commenced at the Gorakhnath temple and culminated at the Mansarovar Ramlila Maidan, covering a distance of 1.5 kilometers. Security measures were meticulously put in place to manage the crowd, including the use of an anti-drone system.
Tilak Utsav: A Traditional Blessing
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister participated in the traditional Tilak Utsav program at Gorakhnath. Seers anointed his forehead as a mark of respect, and in his role as head priest, Yogi Adityanath applied Tilak to devotees, blessing them. Amidst the chanting of mantras, devotees sought his blessings, including Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies, and local representatives.
Gau Poojan: A Gesture of Reverence
Amidst the extensive rituals, Yogi Adityanath did not forget to pay homage to cattle. He performed Gau Poojan in the Gaushala, anointing the cows, seeking their blessings, and offering them puri and jaggery. The Chief Minister also paid homage to Bheem Sarovar and fed the fish in the pond, honoring the sanctity of tradition and the bond with nature.
