Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the strategic guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, the Government of India is committed to strengthening cooperative societies across the country. In this endeavor, an important decision has been taken to computerize and empower registrars in all 28 states, 8 union territories, and 1,851 Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (ARDBs) operating in 13 states.
This initiative follows in the footsteps of the successful computerization scheme for all Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) in the country. A centrally sponsored scheme has been approved, focusing on the computerization of 1,851 units of Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (ARDBs) in 13 states. The approach includes the adoption of national unified software and the computerization of offices of Registrars of Cooperatives in all States and Union Territories, mirroring the Central Registrar’s model.
“To ensure the effective implementation of this scheme, a Central Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) will be established. This unit will play a crucial role in overseeing the scheme’s progress and ensuring its success. The estimated expenditure for the scheme is approximately Rs. 225.09 crore”.
The implementation of this computerization scheme holds several benefits. It will streamline access to services offered by the Cooperative Departments of states and the offices of Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (ARDBs). Moreover, it will introduce a new level of transparency and consistency in the operations of these offices, ultimately making them more efficient and saving valuable time.
“The Government of India’s commitment to modernizing and enhancing the functioning of cooperative societies reflects its dedication to empowering citizens and fostering economic growth and development across the country. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating a more digitally integrated and efficient cooperative ecosystem”.
