GSI To Undertake 111 Geoscience Activities For Public Health & Public Good In 2023-24.

The Geological Survey of India (GSI), a premier organization under the Ministry of Mines, has announced its plan to take up 111 public health and public good geoscience activities during 2023-24. The organization will focus on baseline data generation and mineral exploration programs with special emphasis on strategic-critical and fertilizer minerals exploration. The planned activities are part of a total of 966 standard programs that have been finalized by the GSI across five missions.

Founded in 1851, GSI is one of the oldest survey organizations in the world and has made notable contributions to the field of geosciences. In addition to the geoscience activities, the GSI will also be conducting 115 training and capacity-building courses for its officials and outside officials including geoscientists from different states. The training programs aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of geoscientists to further improve the work of the organization.

The focus on public health and public good geoscience activities highlights the commitment of the GSI to serve society. The organization will work towards generating critical baseline data and exploring mineral resources that are essential for various public health and welfare programs. The exploration of strategic-critical and fertilizer minerals will aid in the development of the agriculture and defense sectors.

The GSI’s plan to undertake 111 geoscience activities for public health and public good in 2023-24 is a significant step towards a better and sustainable future. The organization’s expertise and experience in geosciences will be a valuable asset in achieving its goals. The GSI will continue to work towards the advancement of geosciences and its applications for the betterment of society.
