The Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Rajiv Kumar, extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed commissioners at Nirvachan Sadan, marking the commencement of their responsibilities amidst a crucial period.

The appointment of the Election Commissioners was officially announced through a notification published in the Gazette on March 14, 2024. Both Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu bring with them a wealth of experience, hailing from the distinguished 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service. Shri Gyanesh Kumar belongs to the Kerala cadre, whereas Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu hails from the Uttarakhand cadre.
