On the 12th of January, Hardeep S. Puri called on Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, today.
The discussion on increasing cooperation across the entire oil & gas ecosystem was productive and engaging. Both countries noted the synergies which exist between the two countries.
Recent developments in bilateral energy partnership including the forum of Hardeep Puri with Mr. Vikram Bharat, Minister of Natural Resources of Guyana on the sidelines of ADIPEC-2022 in Abu Dhabi on 31 October 2022 and a visit to Indian Energy PSUs in Guyana in August 2022 by both sides was noted.
The leaders agreed to cooperate with each other in the oil & gas sector including increased long-term offtake, participation in exploration and production activities in Guyana, technical cooperation in the midstream and downstream sectors, and capacity building.
Two technical teams were set up to take these discussions further with the agreement of the leaders. The Vice President of Guyana, Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, will finalize the contours of future cooperation during his visit to India in February 2023.
The leaders noted the signing of a contract between Guyana Power and Gas Inc. (a wholly owned company of the Government of Guyana) and Engineers India Limited (EIL) to provide consultancy services for the Integrated NGL Plant and the 300 MW CCGT Power Plant Project.
