Haryana CM’s Efforts to Uplift OBC Community’s Socio-Economic Status

Nayab Singh Saini, the Chief Minister of Haryana, has taken significant steps to uplift the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, reflecting his commitment to enhancing their socio-economic status. As an OBC member himself, Saini understands the unique challenges faced by this community and has introduced several initiatives aimed at addressing these issues.

Key Initiatives for OBC Empowerment

Bhagwan Vishwakarma Yojana

To empower OBC youth, the Haryana government has allocated a substantial budget of INR 13,000 crore for the Bhagwan Vishwakarma Yojana. This initiative aims to provide training in 18 different trades, equipping participants with essential skills and financial assistance through skill-development kits. This program is part of a broader strategy to enhance educational and vocational opportunities for the OBC community, ensuring that they are better prepared for the job market.

Increase in Income Limit for Creamy Layer

A pivotal decision made by CM Saini was to raise the annual income limit for the creamy layer in government jobs from INR 6 lakh to INR 8 lakh, excluding salary and agricultural income. This change aligns with central government guidelines and is expected to expand access for OBC candidates to various government positions. It is anticipated that this will provide significant benefits in employment opportunities for the OBC community.

Scholarships and Skill Development Programs

The Haryana government has also implemented multiple schemes to support OBC students and professionals. Scholarships ranging from INR 12,000 to INR 20,000 are now being provided to OBC students to improve access to quality education. Additionally, various skill development programs are being introduced to equip OBC youth with the necessary tools to succeed in the competitive job market.

Reservation in Employment

The Haryana Skill Employment Corporation has introduced a 27% reservation for OBC candidates, aimed at boosting job opportunities for the community’s youth. This reservation is expected to enhance employment prospects significantly and ensure that OBC individuals have a fair chance in the recruitment process.

Conclusion: OBC Community

As Haryana progresses, the initiatives led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini are laying a strong foundation for the OBC community, fostering growth, opportunity, and empowerment across the state. His personal experience as an OBC member drives his commitment to ensure that the community receives the support and recognition it deserves.
