Heavy Rainfall Expected in Northwest and Central India: Monsoon Warnings Issued

Monsoon Warning: The depression over central Uttar Pradesh has shifted north-northwestwards, moving at a speed of 10 kmph. As of 05:30 IST on September 13, 2024, the depression is centered near northwest Uttar Pradesh, about 20 km south-southwest of Bareilly. It is expected to gradually weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over the next 12 hours as it continues its north-northwestward movement.

Cyclonic Circulation over Bangladesh: Monsoon Warning

A cyclonic circulation over southeast Bangladesh has led to the formation of a low-pressure area as of the night of September 12, 2024. This system is expected to intensify into a depression over coastal West Bengal and the northwest Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours, affecting the weather systems in the region.

Northwest India:

  • Widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh, with isolated very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh on September 13.

West & Central India:

  • Widespread moderate rainfall is forecasted for Madhya Pradesh and Konkan & Goa.
  • Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Madhya Pradesh from September 13 to 18.

East & Northeast India:

  • Heavy rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, and Gangetic West Bengal, with very heavy rainfall in Jharkhand and Odisha from September 13-16.

South Peninsular India Forecast: Monsoon Warning

Widespread light to moderate rainfall is forecasted across Coastal Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Isolated showers are anticipated in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep, with the potential for more intense rains affecting certain coastal areas.
