Heavy Rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya Prompts Safety Advisory from IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update that underscores the significance of safety precautions amidst heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya. As the regions experience significant downpours, the IMD has provided specific rainfall measurements to raise awareness and promote cautious behavior during this wet season.

According to the IMD, a substantial amount of rainfall has been recorded in different areas. Notably, Chauldhoghat has witnessed 10 cm of rainfall, while Sohra Arg has received 8 cm of rainfall. These measurements highlight the intensity of the rainfall and emphasize the need for vigilance.

“The IMD advisory echoes the importance of avoiding raw and waterlogged areas during this rainy season. As the rain continues to fall, the likelihood of water accumulation in certain areas increases, potentially leading to hazardous conditions. The message is clear: staying informed, and alert, and taking necessary precautions can significantly reduce risks”.

“In the face of heavy rainfall, the safety and well-being of individuals should take precedence. By heeding the advice of the IMD and refraining from venturing into waterlogged areas, residents can mitigate potential dangers associated with flooding and water accumulation”.
