Chhattisgarh: The weather is gradually shifting, with favorable conditions emerging for the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from parts of West Rajasthan and Kachchh around September 23, 2024. Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and move northwestwards. This system is expected to create a low-pressure area over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal by September 23. Another cyclonic circulation is currently observed over northeast Rajasthan in the lower tropospheric levels.
Forecast for Central India: Chhattisgarh
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Central India over the next three days. As the week progresses, the intensity of the rain is expected to increase. Chhattisgarh is likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall between September 23-26. Additionally, Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh may see similar conditions from September 24-26, while West Madhya Pradesh will likely experience heavy rainfall on September 25-26.
East and Northeast India
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to experience fairly widespread rainfall throughout the week. Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal will also see scattered rainfall during this period, while Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim will experience isolated light to moderate rainfall for five days, followed by increased rainfall over the next two days. Heavy rainfall is expected over Odisha from September 22-24, and the northeastern states, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, will experience similar conditions from September 22-26.
Northwest, West, and South India
Northwest India will see isolated light to moderate rainfall, except for West Rajasthan, which will remain mostly dry. The western and southern peninsular regions are likely to experience light rainfall over the next four days, followed by more widespread rainfall afterward. Areas like Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat are expected to see heavy rainfall on September 24-26, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka, and Marathwada will also experience heavy showers.
Temperature Trends
Above-normal temperatures are likely to persist over Northeast India and parts of South India, particularly Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Karnataka, for the next three days.
