Home Minister Amit Shah to Launch ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ tomorrow.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah is all set to launch the unique initiative ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), is set to unveil a remarkable initiative called ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ (MGMD) under the National Mission on Cultural Mapping. The primary objective of this ambitious project is to create a comprehensive virtual platform that will culturally map India’s 6.5 lakh villages spanning across 29 States and 7 Union Territories. Through MGMD, people from all walks of life will have the opportunity to delve into the diverse and vibrant cultural heritage of India.

The core idea behind ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ is to promote a deep appreciation for India’s rich cultural traditions, fostering a sense of pride and belonging among its citizens. By showcasing the cultural treasures of each village, the initiative aims to boost economic growth, encourage social harmony, and nurture artistic development in rural communities.

The launch event, taking place at Qutub Minar in New Delhi, promises to be a grand affair. Starting at 11 a.m. and continuing until 10 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to explore and virtually travel through India’s villages. The exhibition and stalls will display captivating glimpses of the unique cultural wonders that each village offers.

The highlight of the launch event will be a mesmerizing Projection Mapping Show on the iconic Qutub Minar. The show will narrate different themes of handpicked villages from across the country, further enhancing the celebration of India’s diverse cultural heritage. Esteemed guests, including Ministers from various Ministries and other dignitaries, will grace the occasion.

The program also includes a captivating “Samvaad” between people from different villages and Shri Amit Shah, providing a unique opportunity for interaction and understanding the essence of India’s villages. Moderated by RJ Sharat from Fever-104.8 FM, this engaging session will offer insights into the heart and soul of rural India.

The MGMD Launch Film will present an engaging and inspiring narrative, deepening the connection to our cultural roots. The launch event will conclude with a spectacular Music Concert featuring renowned artists Javed Ali and Anweshaa, adding a melodious touch to the festivities.

Under the guidance of the National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM), MGMD aims to create a comprehensive portal showcasing essential information about each village. This includes geographical location, demographic aspects, traditional dresses, ornaments, arts, crafts, temples, fairs, festivals, and much more.

Moreover, users have the exciting opportunity to earn incentives and takeaways as they embark on their digital village journeys, making MGMD an engaging and immersive experience for all. With the launch of ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar,’ India takes another step towards celebrating and preserving its rich cultural heritage, while also opening doors for socio-economic growth and development in its rural heartland.
