4 Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Bad Smelling Gas Immediately

Gas is a natural part of life and will always exist. There are some people, however, who have problems with bad-smelling gas. It might be a stomach or intestinal issue, but it can also be caused by something like food poisoning. If you want to get rid of the sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in your body and make your home environment smell fresh again, there are four easy home remedies that can help.

Introduction

Bad Gas at Home
Bad gas smells are the last thing you want to have around your kitchen. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to make your gas smell better right away. These recommendations do not require a visit to the mechanic and they don’t cost much.

How does bad gas smell?

Gas that smells bad is likely a sign of a blocked fuel filter. Air can get into the tank and cause the liquid fuel to smell funny. This is called a ‘dirty’ gas smell, and it’s an indicator that your vehicle is in need of repair. If you aren’t sure how to fix a blocked fuel filter, take your vehicle to a service station for help.

Home Remedy #1: Sit and Face Down

Sitting down and placing your feet on top of the toilet bowl with your face dipped in the water for about 10 minutes will help to combat the bad smell. This can also be done on a towel in your bathtub if you prefer. Sit and Face Down. Home Remedy #2: Salt Water Soak.

One of our favorite home remedies for eliminating bad odors is a salt water soak in a tub or shower. It can be used as needed anywhere in the house to remove odor from the air. To use, fill a tub or shower with 1 to 2 cups of salt (we recommend Himalayan sea salt because it is pure and has no chemicals added). Add about one cup of water to the tub or shower. Gently scrub in a circular motion on your outside and inside body parts for about 5 minutes, or soak a towel and place over your head for around 10 minutes, as you please (remember to rinse off all salts once done).

Home Remedy #3: Pretzel Twist

Gas has a certain smell that some people can’t stand. If you’re one of the people who want to get rid of bad-smelling gas, there are many simple remedies you can try. One of the most common methods is to use a penny and massage your abdomen in a circular motion. You would then inhale deeply before exhaling through your mouth and nose. Another method is to place a piece of bread soaked in vinegar on top of your belly button. This will help neutralize the smell from your stomach as well as release any built up stress or tension in the area.

Home Remedy #4: Chew Ginger Twists

Bad smelling gas is not good for you in any way, and it can quickly ruin your day. If you have an unpleasant smell coming from your car’s tailpipe, try these home remedies to get rid of the stench immediately:
Step 1: Wash your mouth out with some water.
Step 2: Chew on a piece of ginger root.
Step 3: Hold your breath as long as possible. When you can no longer hold your breath, open the window and breathe in fresh air until you’re able to pass gas normally.

I know that this seems like a lot of work for just one car ride, but it’s definitely worth it if you have an unpleasant smelling tailpipe! It’s not worth second -guessing whether or not it’s safe to drive. If anything, the smell will become less and less noticeable as you get used to it. You’ll only notice a slight stench right after your car’s been sitting out in the sun all day (even if you’ve run the air conditioner). After some time passes, you won’t even notice it anymore—you’ll think nothing of it!
