Ringworm is not caused by a worm or any type of living parasite, despite its name. It is not an infection, but a skin condition caused by a type of fungus called tinea. It lives on dead skin tissues, including your nails and hair.
If you have a red, scaly, itchy patch on your skin, you may have ringworm. It takes the shape of a circle or a ring (or several rings) over time. The name “ringworm” comes from here. Ringworm can affect both your skin and nails. It is most common on the arms and scalp, but you can get it anywhere on your skin, including your face.
Different types of ringworm may be called by different names. Jock itch is a condition that affects the groin area. Athlete’s foot is the name given to a fungal infection that occurs between the toes. Home treatments can be effective for ringworm.

If you have sensitive skin, you might want to avoid pine and coal-tar soap, as they can be irritating.

It may be helpful to dilute the tea tree oil in a carrier oil like coconut oil, which has its own antifungal benefits, if you have sensitive skin.
