Home Remedies to Stop Cough

Believe it or not, a cough is actually a useful thing for your body. It’s your body’s way of clearing your airways in response to aggravation, but a cough can also keep you up all night and make you generally sickly.

1) Honey: It’s a Natural Cough medicine. Have some honey. According to some studies, honey may relieve coughs. To use honey to treat a cough, mix 2 teaspoons with warm water or you can also take it with an herbal tea. Drink this mixture twice a day. But mind it one thing, do not give honey to children under 1 year of age. You can also be made honey and lemon cough syrup at home. Mix well all the ingredients. Use it whenever required.

2) Ginger: Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger may also relieve nausea and pain. People often still use ginger when they have a cough or cold. You can take soothing ginger tea by adding 3-4 thin slices of fresh ginger to a cup of hot water. Before drinking add some honey or lemon juice to improve the taste.

3) Steam:  Take Steam inhalation at home. A wet cough may improve with steam. Alternatively, make a steam bowl or take steam with a steamer.  Add some herbs such as eucalyptus or rosemary, which may also relieve congestion.

4)Drink Fluids: Drink fluids especially warm ones, like hot water, and herbal tea, which is another good natural home remedy for a cough. It helps you get dehydrated. Fluids help your immune system fight off the source of the infection and soothe the sore throat. It is usual with a cough.

5) Gargling: This simple home remedy is one of the most helpful for treating a sore throat and wet cough. Warm Saltwater reduces mucus in the throat which can reduce the need to cough. Take half a teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water and gargle with it. Gargle with salt water three times each day until the cough improves.

6) Thyme: Thyme has culinary medicinal uses and is a common remedy for a cough, sore throat, and digestive issues. To treat coughs using thyme, Alternatively, make a thyme tea by adding 2 tsp of dried thyme to a cup of hot water. Boil for 10 minutes before straining and drinking. 

7) Turmeric: Turmeric has been a used reliable Source to treat upper respiratory conditions and asthma in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. This contains curcumin, which may have compounds that may have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. It may also be very beneficial for dry cough. You can take turmeric into a warm tea.

8) Marshmallow root: This is a type of herb that may have antibacterial properties. It’s used in cough syrup to soothe a dry cough. Marshmallow root is available as a dried herb or a bagged tea online or in health stores.
