One similar traditional sweet that’s popular during Holi is Gujiya, a fried confection filled with an admixture of khoya, dry fruits, and coconut. In this composition, we will take you through the process of making succulent Gujiya at home, step-by-step.
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
To start with, we need to prepare the dough for Gujiya. For this, we will need all-purpose flour, ghee, and water. Mix the flour and ghee in a mixing coliseum until it resembles chuck motes. also, add water sluggishly and knead the dough until it becomes soft and pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 twinkles.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
While the dough is resting, we can prepare the stuffing for Gujiya. For this, we will need khoya( dried faded milk), pulverized sugar, diced dry fruits( almonds, cashews, and raisins), and tattered coconut. toast a visage on medium honey and add khoya to it. Cook it for 5- 7 twinkles until it becomes light brown in color. also, add powdered sugar, diced dry fruits, and tattered coconut to it. Mix well and cook for another 2- 3 twinkles. Remove the admixture from the honey and let it cool.
Step 3: Shape the Gujiya
Once the dough and stuffing are ready, we can start shaping the Gujiya. Take a small ball of dough and roll it into a circle using a rolling leg. Place the circle on a Gujiya earth or a round cookie knife. Put a spoonful of the filling admixture on one side of the circle, leaving some space on the edges. Dip your cutlet in water and run it along the edges of the circle. Fold the other side of the circle over the stuffing and press the edges together to seal it. Repeat the process for the remaining dough and stuffing.
Step 4: Fry the Gujiya
Heat oil painting in a deep frying visage on medium heat. Once the oil painting is hot, gently drop the Gujiya in the oil painting and shindig until it turns golden brown in color. Remove the Gujiya from the oil painting and place it on a paper kerchief to remove redundant oil painting. Step 5 Serve and Enjoy Your succulent Gujiya is now ready to serve. Garnish it with diced dry fruits and serve it warm or at room temperature. Gujiya is best enjoyed with a mug of hot tea or coffee. In conclusion, making Gujiya at home may feel like a daunting task, but it’s relatively simple and can be done with a little tolerance and practice.
