IIT Delhi Inaugurates Abu Dhabi Campus: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has officially inaugurated its Abu Dhabi campus, with the ceremony led by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This event marks a significant step in the strengthening of educational and technological ties between India and the UAE.

The inaugural cohort of 52 undergraduate students has been welcomed to the new campus. These students will pursue BTech degrees in Computer Science and Engineering and Energy Engineering, selected through the JEE Advanced and the newly introduced Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) for international applicants. The diverse group includes students from India, the UAE, and other international backgrounds.

The creation of the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus is a major achievement arising from the Vision Document unveiled in February 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This strategic roadmap aims to enhance the India-UAE relationship through expanded collaboration in education and technology.

During the inauguration, IIT Delhi signed several important Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading Abu Dhabi institutions, including the Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Khalifa University, Zayed University, and Sorbonne University-Abu Dhabi. These partnerships are expected to boost academic and research endeavors, supporting innovation and local start-ups in Abu Dhabi. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that the new campus reflects the strong bond between India and the UAE and aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision for the internationalization of India’s education system.
