The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cautionary statement regarding dense fog conditions affecting several parts of northern India. As of 0530 IST today, the IMD reported very dense fog, with visibility dropping below 50 meters, in certain areas of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, isolated pockets in Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana-Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha are experiencing dense fog, with visibility ranging from 50 to 200 meters.
The onset of dense fog poses challenges for commuters and travelers, necessitating increased vigilance on the roads. Reduced visibility can lead to hazardous driving conditions, emphasizing the need for motorists to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures.
“Dense fog is a common winter phenomenon in northern parts of India, impacting transportation, causing delays, and affecting daily routines. The IMD’s timely alert serves as a crucial reminder for residents and travelers to stay informed about weather conditions and plan their journeys accordingly”.
“While the fog may add a scenic touch to the winter landscape, the public needs to prioritize safety. The IMD continues to monitor and provide updates on weather conditions, and individuals are urged to stay updated with the latest information to make informed decisions and navigate through the foggy conditions safely”.
