New Delhi, India – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the continued advance of the Southwest Monsoon as of June 8, 2024. The monsoon has progressed into additional regions of the central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana, south Chhattisgarh, south Odisha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
According to the IMD, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through 18.0°N/60°E, 18.0°N/65°E, 17.5°N/70°E, Harnai, Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur.”
The IMD further stated, “Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai), and Telangana during the next 2-3 days.”
This progress marks a significant development in the onset of the monsoon season, bringing much-needed relief and water to these regions. The advancement of the monsoon is closely monitored, with favorable conditions promising continued spread across central India.
