IMD Issues Heat Wave Alert for Northwest India and Predicts Monsoon Onset Over Kerala

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heat wave alert for several regions in India. According to the latest updates, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are expected to continue over the plains of Northwest India and West Madhya Pradesh.

IMD has also highlighted that the Western Himalayan Region, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh will experience heat wave conditions over the next three days. However, there is some respite in sight as these severe heat wave conditions are likely to diminish after this period.

In a positive development, IMD forecasts that conditions are becoming favorable for the onset of the monsoon over Kerala within the next five days. This marks a significant transition as the monsoon season typically brings much-needed relief from the oppressive heat and contributes to crucial agricultural activities across the country.

As heat wave conditions persist, residents in the affected regions are advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The anticipation of the monsoon’s arrival in Kerala offers hope for cooler weather and replenished water supplies, signaling the start of a new season.
