On June 2, 2024, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for multiple regions. Isolated pockets in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha are likely to experience severe heatwave conditions.
“Heatwave conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha on 02nd June, 2024,” stated the IMD.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the extreme temperatures, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and seeking cool shelter. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will offer necessary updates as the situation unfolds.
