IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for Northern and Central India

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several regions across northern and central India on May 29th, 2024. Severe heatwave conditions are expected in many parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, and a few parts of Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan. Isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh will also experience similar conditions.

Additionally, heatwave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of the Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The IMD advises residents in these areas to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses and stay hydrated.

This widespread heatwave alert highlights the urgent need for public awareness and preparedness to mitigate the impact of extreme temperatures.
