Heavy Rainfall Alert in the Northeastern States
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on 18th and 19th June 2024. Assam and Meghalaya may experience extremely heavy rainfall on 19th June, necessitating precautions in these regions.
Heatwave Conditions in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness severe heatwave conditions on the 19th of June, with some parts experiencing continued heat on the 20th. The IMD also predicts heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of North Madhya Pradesh and North Rajasthan, with temperatures reaching 44-46°C.
Cyclonic Circulations and Western Disturbances
Cyclonic circulations over the Northeast Arabian Sea and Westcentral Bay of Bengal are expected to bring scattered rainfall to Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, and other regions. Additionally, a Western Disturbance is likely to cause light rainfall with thunderstorms in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and parts of Northwest India from 19th to 23rd June.
Weather Warnings and Safety Measures
The IMD advises the public to stay alert to potential heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and heatwave conditions. Coastal and southern states, including Kerala and Karnataka, should prepare for very heavy rainfall from 21st to 23rd June.
