Monsoon: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the Southwest Monsoon is advancing, with its Northern Limit passing through several key regions. Conditions are favorable for further advancement into the central Arabian Sea, southern Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and the Southwest Bay of Bengal over the next few days.
A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and other northeastern states. Heavy rainfall is also predicted in these regions for the next five days.
Additionally, a trough from northwest Uttar Pradesh to west Bangladesh is likely to cause scattered light to moderate rainfall in Bihar, Jharkhand, and several other states. Heavy rainfall is expected in Gangetic West Bengal on June 1st.
A shear zone over south peninsular India and cyclonic circulation off south Kerala are expected to bring widespread rainfall to Kerala, Lakshadweep, and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heavy rainfall is likely in these areas from June 1st to 2nd.
The IMD also warns of heatwave conditions in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and other states on June 1st. High temperatures and hot, humid conditions are expected to continue in various regions, including Odisha, Telangana, and Rayalaseema, in the coming days.
