Rainfall: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important weather forecast for the regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 26, 2024. This significant weather alert calls for residents and authorities to prepare for potentially challenging conditions.
According to the IMD, these regions are very likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, and very heavy rainfall between 115.5 mm and 204.4 mm. The forecast indicates a high likelihood of intense precipitation, which may result in waterlogging, flash floods, and disruptions in daily activities.
In a statement, the IMD emphasized, “Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, & Karaikal are very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 26th June, 2024.”
The forecasted heavy rainfall is attributed to the ongoing monsoon activity and specific atmospheric conditions favorable for significant precipitation in these areas. The IMD has urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period.
Local authorities in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are advised to activate emergency response plans and ensure the readiness of infrastructure to handle the anticipated rainfall. Measures should be taken to prevent waterlogging in urban areas, secure power and communication lines, and provide timely assistance to affected communities.
