The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of continued severe heat wave conditions over the plains of Northwest India, as well as heat wave conditions in north Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat over the next five days. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat.
In addition to the heat wave alert, the IMD has reported the formation of a Low Pressure Area over the Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to move northeastwards and intensify into a Depression by the morning of May 24th, 2024.
The IMD further forecasts that the Depression will continue to move northeastwards, potentially intensifying further and reaching the northeast and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal by the evening of May 25th. This development could bring significant weather changes, including increased rainfall and wind activity in the affected regions.
Citizens in the predicted heat wave areas are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and follow any advisories issued by local authorities. Meanwhile, those in coastal and adjacent inland areas should stay updated on the evolving weather conditions due to the low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
