IMD Weather Forecast: A Western Disturbance, forming a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies along Long. 57°E to the north of Lat. 25°N is expected to impact the Northwest Indian region from December 22nd to 23rd.
Forecast & Warnings:
- On 22nd and 23rd December, isolated light rainfall/snowfall is anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and isolated light rainfall is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and northwest Rajasthan.
- On 23rd December, northwest Uttar Pradesh and northeast Rajasthan may experience isolated light rainfall.
- Over the next 5 days, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, and the Lakshadweep area.
Dense Fog Warning:
- In the morning hours, dense to very dense fog conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Punjab over the next 5 days.
- Dense fog conditions are likely in the morning hours at isolated pockets of Haryana for the next 3 days, north Uttar Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura for the next 2 days, and Odisha on the 23rd & 24th December.
Minimum Temperatures Forecast:
- In Northwest and East India, minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-3°C over the next 2 days, with no significant change thereafter.
- In Central India, minimum temperatures are expected to gradually rise by 2-3°C over the next 4-5 days.
