An off-shore trough is also present along the south Gujarat-north Kerala coasts at mean sea level. Additionally, a well-marked low-pressure area over the central and north Bay of Bengal has shifted northwestwards, now positioned off the Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts. This system is anticipated to intensify into a depression and move inland over the next 24 hours.

In Northwest India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, West Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh. Very heavy rainfall is also forecasted for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on specific dates.
Rainfall Projections for Northeast India
Northeast India, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, is set to receive fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places across Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam & Meghalaya between the 20th and 22nd of July.
Wind Warnings and Fishermen Advisory
Squally winds with speeds reaching 40 kmph to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected to prevail over Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh coasts, and the northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into these areas during this period due to the hazardous conditions.
