President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates New Delhi World Book Fair 2025

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the New Delhi World Book Fair 2025 in New Delhi today (February 1, 2025), emphasizing the transformative power of reading. Speaking at the event, she highlighted that reading is more than just a hobby; it bridges gaps between different cultures and communities, fostering unity.

A Global Literature Hub

President Murmu expressed her happiness over the fair’s representation of India’s diverse languages and global literary works. She encouraged book-lovers to explore literature from various regions and countries, enabling them to immerse themselves in a wide range of cultures and ideas.

Fostering Reading Habits in Children

The President stressed the importance of encouraging children to read not only prescribed textbooks but also a variety of books covering diverse subjects. This, she said, would help them discover their full potential, develop empathy, and become well-rounded individuals.

She further urged that promoting books for children should be a priority for society, with elders playing a key role in fostering a love for reading.
