Income Tax Dept. Establishes 24X7 Control Room for Lok Sabha Elections 2024

The Income Tax Department, aligning with the Election Commission of India’s objective to curb the influence of black money in elections, urges residents to actively participate in ensuring clean and fair General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024.

To achieve this goal, the Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation), Delhi, has implemented various measures to monitor the movement of unaccounted cash, bullion, and other valuables during the Model Code of Conduct within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

One of the key initiatives is the establishment of a 24X7 Control Room at Civic Centre, New Delhi, along with the issuance of a Toll-Free Number for reporting any suspicious activities related to the distribution of cash and valuables within the NCT of Delhi in connection with the upcoming elections.

Residents are encouraged to utilize the Toll-Free Number provided by the Income Tax Department to communicate any relevant information without disclosing personal details. The focus is on ensuring that the received information is credible and actionable to facilitate effective monitoring of electoral finances.

The Control Room will operate throughout the Model Code of Conduct in Delhi, from the announcement of General Elections 2024 until their conclusion. The department assures that the identity of informants will be kept confidential, emphasizing the importance of citizen participation in promoting free and fair elections.

In the spirit of democracy and electoral integrity, citizens are urged to cooperate with the Income Tax Department by sharing pertinent information regarding suspicious activities within the NCT of Delhi. This collaborative effort aims to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
