The Internet Governance Forum (IGF), a diverse and inclusive platform uniting stakeholders to discuss public policy issues surrounding the Internet, is set to host the India Internet Governance Forum 2023 (IIGF-2023). Scheduled as a hybrid event on December 5th, 2023, from 09:00 to 18:30 IST, the IIGF-2023 aims to explore Bharat’s digital landscape under the overarching theme “Moving Forward – Calibrating Bharat’s Digital Agenda.”
After the successful editions of the IIGF in 2021 and 2022, the third edition promises a deep dive into critical issues such as securing a resilient cyberspace for Bharat, fostering innovation for India’s developmental goals, bridging divides, and shaping Bharat’s digital agenda on the global stage. “The inaugural session, scheduled from 10:00 to 11:30 IST, will feature the esteemed presence of Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. A special address by Shri S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), and a welcome address by Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, will set the tone for the day”.
“Distinguished representatives from international organizations, including the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), will join stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, the technical community, think tanks, industry associations, and more. Engaging in various panel discussions, these experts will contribute to shaping policies and strategies for Bharat’s digital future”.
The India Internet Governance Forum, associated with the UN IGF, serves as a collaborative initiative fostering discussions on internet-related public policy issues. Established in 2021, it is supported by a 14-member multi-stakeholder committee representing government, civil society, industries, the technical community, think tanks and industry associations.
